Detailed Itineraries of 9 Days Duer Hot Spring Trek:

Day 01: Bumthang to Gorsum (distance 18 km, time 7 hours)

The trek route passes through Chemkhar Chhu, the river famous for trouts. Camp at altitude 3,120m.

1st Day: Gorsum to Lungsum (distance 12 km, time 5 hours)

Today’s route passes through the dense forests of spruce, hemlock, cypress, juniper and maples. The trail is more or less muddy and ascends gradually till you reach to campsite at altitude 3,160m.

2nd Day: Lungsum to Tshochenchen (distance 15km, time 6 hours)

Trek through dense vegetation till you reach Tashochenchen at an altitude of 3,700m. Camp is just above the treeline.

3rd Day: Tshochenchen to Duer Tsachu (distance 17 km, time 6 to 7 hours)

The day’s walk is uphill, passing a small lake until you reach at Juli La (4,700m). After crossing the pass the trail descends to a lake, than climbs again to Gokthong La (pass). The trail then traverses tohrough jungle to a camp near Duer hot spring at 3,550m. Musk deer, Blue sheep and Himalayan bear may be seen on this part of trek.

5th Day: Duer Tsachu halt
Day to relax in the hot spring.

6th Day: Duer Tsachu to Tshochenchen (distance 17 km, time 6 to 7 hours)

Start early crossing again Juli La passes en route. After this pass it is gradual descent till the campsite.

7th Day: Tshochenchen to Gorsum (distance 27km, almost whole day trekking)

Being a long route, today’s trek should be started early.

8th Day: Gorsum to Bumthang (distance 18km, time 7 hours)
From Gorsum walk downhill till you reach the Duer village. Then follow the new motorable road.

NOTE: FOLLOWING ITINERARIES WILL ALSO BE INCLUDED IN 8 DAYS DUER HOT     SPRING TREK. IN TOTAL YOU HAVE TO HOLD 16 NIGHTS FOR THIS TREK.

Day 01: Paro (arrival) then drive to Thimphu

On the way visit Tachogang Lhakhang founded by the Tibetan saint, Thangtong Gyalpo (1385 – 1464) probably around the year 1420. In this place you can also see one of his famous iron bridge (later carried away by floods in 1969.  After a mile you will reach to a junction where the roads from Haa, Paro, Thimphu and Phuentsholing meet. Here you can see three different Stupas (Nepalese, Tibetan & Bhutanese).

Day 02: Thimphu (sightseeing)

(Trashichho Dzong, Semtokha Dzong, Memorial Chorten, Largest Buddha Statue, National Library, Changangkha Lhakhang, Painting School, Textile Meusum, Folk Heritage, Tango & Chari Lhakhang, Vegetable Market, Botanical Garden, etc.).

Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha

You will come across the Dochula Pass. Here you can see 108 Stupas built by Queen Mother to honor the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed when fighting the Indian rebels in 2003 and also visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang. On the way visit Chhime Lhakhang and later visit Punakha Dzong (the palace of Great Bliss) built in 1637 by the Zhabdrung.

Day 04: Punakha to Bumthang

Day 05: Bumthang to Gorsum (trek starts)

Day 06: Gorsum to Lungsum

Day 08: Tshochenchen to Duer Tsachu

Day 12: Gorsum to Bumthang (trek ends)

Day 13: Bumthang (sightseeing)

(Chakhar Lhakhang, Kenchosum Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong, Jampey Lhakhang, Kujey Lhakhang, Kunzangdrak Monastery, Mebar Tsho, Tamshing Monastery, Tang Rimochen, Thangbi Lhakhang, Thowadra Monastery, Ura Lhakhang, Wangdichholing Palace, Yathra weaving centre, etc.)

Day 14: Bumthang to Phobjikha

On the way back visit Ta – Dzong (watch tower) and Trongsa Dzong). After reaching Phobjikha Valley visit Gangtey Monastery and later visit Black – necked crane centre where it is the winter home for this bird.

Day 15: Phobjikha to Paro

After reaching the Paro Valley visit  Ta – Dzong, Paro Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, Dungtse Lhakhang.

Day 16: Paro (sightseeing)

Today will be your last day to stay in Bhutan and also the foremost sightseeing in Bhutan. Hike to the Tiger Nest, where you could find amazing the Monastery built in the hill of the rock. This Monastery is the 10th holiest place in the world.

Supper with the President/Representative of SNG Tours & Treks and bidding farewell to the Guest(s).  Hold night at the hotel in Paro. (Altitude 2,280m).
